The Flash sees 1.1 million US households tuning in for debut weekend on Max

The Flash sees 1.1 million US households tuning in for the debut weekend of the DC movie on the Max streaming service.

It’s safe to say that The Flash didn’t exactly live up to expectations. Despite being touted as one of the “best superhero films ever made,” the movie received mixed reviews and absolutely crashed and burned at the box office, ending its entire theatrical run with just $268.5 million. Now that The Flash is available on home media, it may just enjoy a second life, and Deadline has reported that the movie pulled in 1.1 million US households following its weekend debut on Max.

That number is 8% less than the weekend debut of Black Adam, which pulled in 1.2 million US households. The debut of other DC movies on Max have been more impressive, with The Suicide Squad seeing 2.8 million US households and Wonder Woman 1984 doing 2.2 million US households during their respective weekend debuts.

Given the struggles it took to bring The Flash to life, it’s a shame that the film couldn’t stick the landing. With creative teams dropping in and out, frequent delays, and multiple reshoots, not to mention the whole Ezra Miller controversy, it seemed that The Flash was under fire before it had even been released. When the film did finally hit theaters, it was trashed for its CGI and was even leaked on Twitter in its entirety.

Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past,” reads the official synopsis of The Flash. “But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

In addition to streaming on Max, The Flash has also been released on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/DVD.
