Keri Russell navigates the complicated web of connections made by governments while her work and her personal life continuously collide.
Keri Russell is going from struggling with cocaine bears to struggling with international relations, as well as personal relations. Russell, who last starred in another politically charged series, The Americans on FX, returns in a new position within inter-country liaisons. Netflix has released the trailer for the drama, The Diplomat. The show’s first season will consist of eight episodes that run an hour long. The series was also filmed on location in London, Paris, and the Cotswolds. Co-starring with Russell is Rufus Sewell, who is seemingly having a ball stressing out Russell’s character as they play husband and wife.

Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) is the new US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. She was supposed to go to Afghanistan. She’s great in a crisis zone. In a historic home… less so. War is brewing on one continent and boiling over on another. Kate will have to diffuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London, and adjust to her new place in the spotlight — all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell). The Diplomat will schedule meetings with streaming audiences on April 20 on Netflix.
