Tomorrow, the live-action series Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, will be making its debut on the Netflix streaming service. Deadline reports Beef isn’t the only new series Wong has in the works at Netflix, as she is also set to star in and executive produce the 2D animated series Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld! Wong is being joined in the voice cast by Lucy Liu, Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, and Woosung Kim.

Described as a “supernatural action” series, Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld will follow Jentry Chau (voiced by Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.

Aron Eli Coleite, who worked on Netflix’s Joe Hill adaptation Locke & Key, will also be executive producing the series with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, Ben Kalina, and first-time showrunner Echo Wu.

That’s all the information we have on Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld at this time, but the show sounds interesting to me. I don’t even watch much animation, but the idea of Buffy-esque teen taking on a demon king with the help of a weapons expert and a Chinese hopping vampire could be enough to get me to give this show a chance.
