Hayley Atwell says her Captain Carter cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was frustrating.

Hayley Atwell has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade at this point, but he confessed that her Captain Carter cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was frustrating.

Hayley Atwell played Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, an alternate universe incarnation of Peggy that was enhanced with the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers. While it was great to finally see Captain Carter in live action, Atwell’s cameo was all too brief as she and the rest of the Illuminati were killed by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). “I’m like, ‘That wasn’t my choice!’” Atwell told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “When she was like, ‘I could do this all day’ and then followed by she’s immediately cut in half by a frisbee. And the audience being like, ‘She can’t do it all day. Apparently you can’t, so, egg on your face.’ That doesn’t really serve Peggy very well.

Hayley Atwell added that her time recording the episodes of What If…? were more enjoyable. “I felt like I had much more to do in the What If…? animation series,” she said. “I mean, any actor will tell you, to be able to go into a booth in effectively your pajamas and do an animation is great fun because you’re focused on the voice as the instrument and your main performative tool.” By contrast, her Doctor Strange cameo “felt like a frustrating moment.

Hayley Atwell can currently be seen starring alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The film follows Ethan Hunt and his IMF team as they embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray and let us know what you thought of the film as well.
