Directed by Serg Skobun, Legend of the Carpathians has the following synopsis: As Carpathian legend has it, Oleksa Dovbush was a heroic outlaw with excellent fighting skills and a gift to predict the future. He was left an orphan as a small boy after a local lord murdered Oleksa’s mother. After spending his childhood in exile in the mountains, he returned as a grown man to avenge his mother’s death. Oleksa gathered followers to begin a crusade against the lord, but destiny made other plans for him.
The Ukrainian production stars Valeriy Kharchyshyn, Nikita Vakaryuk, Mariia Yaremchuk, Viktoriia Pilpani, Sergiy Akhrimenko, Nadiia Bokaturo, Anatoli Chumachenko, Mykhailo Hrytskan, Nataliia Hunda, Zakhar Kermoshchuk, Serg Kharchenko, Oleg Kolyankivski, Aleksandar Koshara, Vasyl Kozma, Bogdan Lastivka, Silva Levko, Oleksandr Malaiko, Yuriy Marchak, Dmitro Rudy, Oleksandr Skobun Jr., Olha Skobun, Yurii Skobun, Vasyl Stavchanskyi, Anna Sterlikova, Maryna Tymku, Vasyl Uhryn, and director Skobun.
Skobun made his feature directing and producing debut with Legend of the Carpathians. He hasn’t made another feature since this movie was released in 2018, but maybe we’ll have the chance to see more Skobun productions sometime down the line.
