Fatal Attraction: Lizzy Caplan will not be ignored in new trailer for Paramount+ series

Date:

Paramount+ releases new trailer for Fatal Attraction series starring Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson in a adaptation of the classic thriller.

You don’t want to ignore the new trailer for Fatal Attraction, the upcoming eight-episode adaptation of the classic 1987 movie coming to Paramount+.

The Fatal Attraction series stars Lizzy Caplan as Alex Forrest, a woman who forms a deep connection with Dan Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) during a one-night stand, but when Dan decides to end the affair, Alex has trouble letting go. The series is based on the 1987 film of the same name starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Writer/executive producer Alexandra Cunningham teased that while there will be similarities with the movie, it will explore different facets. “The screenwriter of the film, James Dearden said, to him the character of Alex Forrest is not a study in madness, but rather a sad, tragic, lonely woman under pressure from a really hard job,” Cunningham said. “As a frequently sad, not at all tragic, and not as lonely as I wish was but under pressure from a really hard job, I wanted us to go in a slightly different direction.

Alexandra Cunningham continued, “This reimagining of Fatal Attraction shares a lot with the iconic original film, but it also is about entitlement and midlife crisis and how some of the sausage gets made in our broken justice system, as well as Cluster B personality disorders, isolation, of fathers and daughters, and murder. It’s about how some people just can’t take a win. It’s about self-image and what we’ll do to protect it and also what happens when someone doesn’t have one. And if we’ve done our job, which these actors and their colleagues definitely did, they think that your sympathies will shift more than once.

When the project was first announced, it was described as a deep-dive reimagining of the psychosexual thriller that would explore themes including marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders and coercive control. In addition to Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson, the Fatal Attraction series also stars Amanda Peet as Beth Gallagher, Alyssa Jirrels as Ellen Gallagher, Toby Huss as Mike Gerard, Reno Wilson as Detective Earl Booker, and Brian Goodman as Arthur Timlinson. The series will debut on Paramount+ on April 30th.
