Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER) is pleased to announce its annual research symposium highlighting impactful research related to the treatment and prevention of eczema in children to be held virtually on November 9, 2023. This year’s event will highlight advances in our understanding of the skin barrier and how damage to it can lead to eczema.

“We’re thrilled to bring together these distinguished researchers who are illuminating the causes of eczema and finding ways to repair the skin barrier to prevent it,” said Korey Capozza, Executive Director of GPER. “This event brings together diverse stakeholders to share ideas and discuss opportunities for collaboration to benefit children with eczema,” she continued.

Topics and speakers include:

  • Dr. Cezmi Akdis will share information on chemical exposures and gut/skin barrier damage;
  • Dr. Lisa Beck will speak on type 2 inflammation and how it leads to skin barrier changes;
  • Dr. Ian Myles will share advances in detecting skin barrier changes in early life; and
  • Dr. Helen Brough will speak on addressing skin barrier damage early to treat and prevent AD.

Dr. Jeffrey McBride, GPER Board Member, will kick off the event, and GPER Founder and Executive Director, Korey Capozza, will moderate the symposium.
