Spire Healthcare Advances Pathology Services With Tribun Health Partnership

Date:

Spire Healthcare, a leading independent healthcare group in the United Kingdom, embarks on a new chapter of enhancing their pathology services by partnering with Tribun Health, an innovative and agile healthcare solutions provider. As a result of this collaboration, Spire is set to launch their new digital infrastructure and services in early December, marking a pivotal moment in their commitment to delivering high-quality care and innovation in the medical field.

Spire Healthcare, the largest independent healthcare group in the UK in terms of revenue, caters to insured, self-pay, and NHS patients across 39 hospitals, and over 30 clinics, medical centres and consulting rooms across England, Wales and Scotland. With a team of over 100 Consultant Histopathologists and an impressive annual production volume of 150,000 pathology slides (expected to rise to 350,000 by 2028), Spire's pathology service is central in the country's medical testing landscape.

Addressing the opportunities available to enhance its current pathology practices, Mike Langford, the Head of Pathology at Spire Healthcare, commented, "Our primary goal is to deliver a high-quality, professional service that aligns with our desire to further improve turnaround times by reducing the burden of moving glass slides, create a single community of specialist pathologist and develop a digital platform ready to support AI. We sought a digital pathology partner who could provide an implementation plan tailored to our requirements, ensuring operational resilience, asset maintenance, and be responsive in project delivery."

After an extensive procurement process, Spire selected Tribun Health over industry competitors, recognizing the need for an agile, and pathology-focused company. "Tribun Health set itself apart among the competition. Its emphasis on smart and cost-efficient architecture was competitive, and its rapid implementation abilities significantly impacted our decision," added Mike Langford.

Tribun Health's solution involves implementing sophisticated digital pathology platform which includes CaloPix® IMS, CaloPix® Storage and Archive management, and forthcoming AI Applications. These modules, along with professional services and infrastructure components, aim to modernize Spire's pathology operations, ensuring operational resilience, rapid report generation, and streamlined asset management.

"Our collaboration with Spire Healthcare aligns with our mission to provide innovative, agile, and tailored solutions to the healthcare industry," stated Jean-François Pomerol, the CEO of Tribun Health. "We are dedicated to supporting Spire's vision of delivering high-quality care, and our AI-powered pathology software platform will contribute to achieving their objectives efficiently."

The Go Live in November 2023 signifies a significant step forward for Spire Healthcare's pathology services, heralding a new era of efficiency, innovation, and enhanced patient care.
