A24 will be giving the Australian horror film Talk to Me, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (you can read our review at THIS LINK), a theatrical release on July 28th. The first trailer for the film arrived online a couple months ago, and with the film’s release now just over one month away, a new trailer has been unveiled. You can check it out in the embed above.

Talk to Me marks the feature directorial debut of brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, who have a following of over 6 million subscribers on their YouTube channel RackaRacka. The film has the following synopsis: When a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

Sophia Wilde (You Don’t Know Me), Miranda Otto (Annabelle: Creation), Alexandra Jensen (Frayed), Joe Bird (First Day), Otis Djanji (Aquaman), and Zoe Terakes (Wentworth) star. As you can tell from our own Chris Bumbray’s 8/10 review, Talk to Me went over extremely well when making the festival rounds. The movie currently has a 97% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fangoria has described it as “an absolute blast”, and our friends at Bloody Disgusting say it’s “an intense, nightmarish horror movie that’ll leave you breathless.” Apparently even the likes of Steven Spielberg and Jordan Peele have watched and loved the film.

Since the movie is receiving such good word-of-mouth so far, I’ll definitely be taking a look at Talk to Me later this year.

Their previous releases include X, Pearl, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Men, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Lamb, The Green Knight, Saint Maud, The Witch, The Lighthouse, Hereditary, Midsommar, It Comes at Night, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Tusk, Green Room, Ex Machina, Life After Beth, Under the Skin, and many more.
