Community: Donald Glover confirms that he will appear in the movie

Date:

As the Glendale Community College students reunite for a movie at Peacock, Troy’s appearance was questionable until Glover gives an update.

It’s been a bumpy road, but Community was able to get up to six seasons, partly due to it being streamed on Yahoo, of all places, and Peacock will now be granting the show with a movie. The sitcom had notoriously dealt with behind-the-scenes drama with a famously difficult Chevy Chase being…well, difficult. He butted heads with creator Dan Harmon and the cast frequently. Chase was eventually written off the show as his character got killed off in season five. One cast member whose schedule may have interfered with the reunion is Donald Glover, as the star had found much success after the sitcom with a rap career, a stand-up career, films, and his hit show, Atlanta.

ScreenRant now reports that Glover has confirmed that he will be returning to Glendale with his classmates for the movie. Glover recently analyzed his iconic roles in an interview with GQ, and while he broke down his Troy character, he would give an update on his involvement along with the movie’s status. Glover revealed, “The Community movie, there’s some progress on it. We’re supposed to be shooting it soon. Haven’t seen a script. In true Dan [Harmon] fashion, will probably get it on the first day. But yeah, it’s supposed to be happening. I know just as much about it as you do.”

Joel McHale, who is recently appearing in a new workplace comedy, Animal Control, admitted that he got emotional at the table read for the movie. He even expects the tears to run down the faces of their fans, “I’m not kidding, so you know that I’m sarcastic about literally fucking everything but um, there will be tears…We did that table read during the pandemic and I cried like a baby afterwards and I’m not joking.” McHale would thank Peacock for giving them the greenlight and didn’t waste an opportunity to throw shade at Chevy Chase in the process, “We announced it. Peacock is paying for it, thank you Peacock…So yeah, it’s happening and everybody’s back. It really is like a family reunion but without a-holes.”

Although there was a table read, it looks as if Glover is still in the dark about the film, and Dan Harmon himself warned fans that it could take some time before hitting Peacock.
